Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased with the debut of midfielder Owen Hargreaves in the pre-season friendly against Peterborough United at London Road on Saturday.

Over 11,000 supporters were inside the stadium to see the England international make his first start in the colours of the Red Devils and he didn't disappoint, putting in an impressive display during the second half.

'It was good to see Owen back,' said Ferguson. 'He would have played the first half, but we were delayed so I put him on in the second half so he could warm-up first.'

Goals from Ritchie Jones, Adam Eckersely and Dong earned the Red Devils a 3-1 win with Rene Howe scoring the Posh goal. Summer signing Anderson was due to play at London Road but picked up a slight hamstring strain in the 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Friday night.
