Day Delight At Double Strike
Jamie Day returned to the Peterborough United side for the clash with Wrexham and repaid the manager's faith in him with the two goals that secured a 2-0 victory for promotion-chasing Posh.
Day failed a fitness test on a back injury at Macclesfield but returned to the starting line-up for the clash with the struggling Red Dragons and his two free-kicks - the second a superb effort - made it four wins in a row for Darren Ferguson's men.
'The first one took a bit of a deflection but I am not too bothered about that, I was delighted to see it creep into the corner. The second one was a better one and I just caught it sweetly. Funnily enough I wasn't actually going to take it because we had an arranged routine, but the lads called me over and I just had a go.
'I don't score many free-kicks, but that is because we don't tend to get many free-kicks around the box so to get two in one game was quite strange. I do practice them and hopefully if another opportunity comes around I can try and repeat it!
'I was glad to be playing first and foremost. I was touch and go for Saturday and I was obviously disappointed to miss out, but Daniel Blanchett played well and I was delighted for the boys to get a 3-0 win. The manager told me I would be playing and I just tried to do my best.
'It was another good win for us and we need to keep this going, starting on Saturday against Bury. We are keeping clean sheets and scoring goals, so that is the perfect formula we need to keep going,' Day said.
