Winger Signs New Deal
Peterborough United Football Club are delighted to announce that highly-rated winger Chris Whelpdale has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract.
The former Billericay player has been a regular in the starting line-up since his summer move and has won praise from many admirers including Sir Alex Ferguson.
The youngster has helped Posh secure automatic promotion to Coca-Cola League One and has been rewarded for his success in his first season in the Football League.
Whelpdale told theposh.com: 'It has been a great season and this has topped it off. It was a really good weekend apart from the result against Darlington and to come in on Tuesday and put pen to paper on a new deal was brilliant and I am delighted.
'It has been a good season for me. I never envisaged I would play so many games in the first team after coming in from non-league, but everyone at the club has had faith in me from the rest of the players to the management team and in particular the manager Darren Ferguson.
'We are a young side and are hungry for success and everyone will come back next season looking to achieve promotion again and I am personally looking forward to playing at some excellent stadiums, including Leicester City,' Whelpdale said.
