Boyd: 'The Best Season Of My Career'
As first full seasons in the Football League go, George Boyd has had a pretty good one. Boyd has scored 16 goals from wide left and has dazzled both the opposition and supporters with his silky skills on the ball.
He finished runners-up in the foreverposh Player of the Year and won the Away Travel Player of the Year trophy at the end of season presentation evening and it was just reward for an excellent campaign.
'It has definitely been the best season of my career so far and it has been really enjoyable to play in such an attacking side. We have played some excellent football and with the players we have got at the club, it is not hard to understand why we have been successful.
'I firmly believe we can go all the way to the top if everyone sticks together because we have a lot of young exciting players at this football club. It is a really exciting time to be at this club and I believe we can progress in League One next term.
'My personal aim for next year is to build on my goal tally this year. I was happy with 16 goals and it would be great to score that amount in the league above. Everyone is targeting promotion into the Championship now,' Boyd told theposh.com.
There were plenty of great goals scored by Boyd during the season and he has singled out the strike at Rochdale, which helped the team to an important 2-0 victory.
'The goal against Rochdale was probably the best for me as it was a long way out when I struck it. Undoubtedly the best moment of the season for me personally was my first hat-trick in league football against Accrington Stanley. I enjoyed the first goal when I flicked it up and volleyed it low into the corner,' Boyd added.
