Fergie Expecting Tough Carling Cup Test
The first round draw of the Carling Cup was made on Friday and Peterborough United have been handed an away tie at Championship play-off finalists Bristol City - one of the toughest matches of the draw.
Boss Darren Ferguson believes it will provide his side with a stern test so early in the season, but is hoping his players can put on a good show and continue their recent good record against sides from a higher division.
'We had Championship teams last season and we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves. We beat Southampton in round one and I felt we were unlucky against West Bromwich Albion in the second round. Gary Johnson has done a great job with a side who really get the ball down and play.
'It's going to be a tough one and its one that I wouldn't have picked but you have got to get on and do it, and on our day we can give anyone a game, we showed that last season, so we can only look forward to the game,' Ferguson said.
The tie will be played week commencing 11th August at Ashton Gate.
