Bridge Closure Will Affect Rushden Friendly
From Monday 30th June 2008, the A6 Bridge near Nene Park will be closed, for a period of one month, subject to weather and the speed of progress, in order to carry out essential waterproofing, resurfacing and footway reconstruction.
The smaller bridge on Station Road will also be closed, except for access for emergency vehicles, staff and contractors. During this time access to Nene Park will be difficult from the A45, particularly from Rushden and Higham Ferrers, and fans are advised to take an alternative route, particularly on matchdays, to avoid long delay.
The Highways Agency's recommended route for traffic travelling to Nene Park from the A45 is to carry on the A45 past the Chowns Mill roundabout (Eastbound) to Thrapston, then taking the A14, turning off onto the A510 to Finedon just before Cranford St John. From Finedon traffic can take the A6 to Nene Park.
Fans are requested to allow themselves a little extra time when travelling to Nene Park, particularly for the friendlies against Posh and Derby County, which look likely to be affected by the closure.
