Club Launches New Crest
Peterborough United Football Club's retail development programme in conjunction with our future shirt suppliers adidas is well underway and the club will be informing supporters of key developments as they happen.
Commercial Manager Leigh Porter has been working closely with representatives from adidas over the last few weeks in developing key areas of the retail partnership.
'One of the key aspects of the new replica shirt design is the club crest and in conjunction with adidas, the three supporters' groups and Peterborough City Council we have been working on a new design that will give fans what they have been asking for and compliment the new replica kits.
'The design brief was to keep a strong link with the city's crest but create something that recognises the new vision we have at the club which has been created by our chairman Darragh MacAnthony.
'This football club is making great strides on and off the pitch. We are one of only four clubs (Newcastle United, Chelsea and Derby County) to be working directly with adidas at this moment in time and have the same partnership as those clubs are experiencing.
'I am pleased to be able to present the new crest (below). We felt it was important to incorporate the name of our club, recognise the date of which the club was founded and include a cleaner version of the current crest but still including the shield, crossed keys, the lions and 'upon this rock' motto.
'The new crest will aid us in producing a higher standard of merchandise and team-wear and it is vitally important that we retain strong links with our history. This will be reflected in a number of ways with the new kits,' Porter said.
The club are making every effort to ensure that the replica kits will be available for purchase before the end of the current campaign.
