After a slow start by his own admission, Dean became a key part of the promotion-winning 2007-2008 campaign and ended the season as a regular in the starting line-up, due mainly to his goal threat and his partnership with Micah Hyde. The former Walsall midfielder made it back to back promotions after securing a similar feat with the Saddlers 12 months earlier.
