Posh Reserves Beaten By Strong Luton Side
The Peterborough United second string were beaten 3-2 by a strong Luton Town side at London Road with one-time Posh target Darren Currie scoring a fine solo effort.
The home side dominated much of the opening period and took a deserved lead when Adam Smith rounded off a spell of pressure by hooking the ball past Marlon Beresford with his right-foot.
Liam Hatch was a menace throughout the first half and was denied twice by fine saves from Beresford, while he saw a goal-bound shot blocked and a long-range drive came inches away from doubling the advantage.
A fine solo run from Low created a chance for Billy Crook, but he slotted wide of the target while Alfie Potter also went close. Luton came out in the second half and were a different side as they passed the ball expertly on a slick surface.
The Hatters levelled when Alan Goodall slotted through the legs of James McKeown who had made a superb penalty save on 23 minutes to deny Richard Langley after Darren Gourlay had been adjudged to have pushed Currie.
Currie made it 2-1 with a well-taken strike but Posh were soon level as Low beat two defenders before slamming a left-foot shot into the top corner past the despairing dive of Beresford.
However, the visitors had the last laugh as Adam Nowland slotted in from close-range after good work from Currie. There was still time for Potter to slice wide after good work from Daniel Blanchett while Josh Jirbandy fired wide.
Final Score: Posh Reserves 2-3 Luton Town Reserves
